What Are the Real Facts Organic Skin Care and What is Hydroponics?

Think you're buying organic skin care?

If a skin care product had no chemicals in it that would not make it organic, that would make it chemical free. Organic can be used when describing anything that is derived from a living plant or animal. In our case, it refers to our hydroponically grown aloe vera, the main ingredient in our products. This is where the nutrients come from. There are very few genuine plant based organic skin care companies and those that claim to be organic use water as their first ingredient, not organic plant matter.

For a skin care product to really be organic, the main ingredient must be organic plant matter. While water may be natural, it's not organic. That's why when you buy a bottle of water it says "natural" spring water; never "organic" spring water.

You want to buy organic skin care for the nutrients it delivers to your skin. Gunilla of Sweden® is a rare skin care company using an exclusive hydroponic aloe as the base component. That is why we make High-Content Organic™ skin care, you know every product we make has a minimum of 50% oil-free botanical content.

Why Gunilla's organic products are so effective and what does organic really mean in skin care?

There are multiple ways to define organic. The dictionary says no carbon, others say no chemicals or only plant matter. Some say organic means a small carbon footprint and thats why they buy organic products. There are organic chemicals as well.

Starting almost 30 years ago we were growing botanical ingredients organically and hydroponically because we could infuse more nutrients into those plants. These plants are hand picked and hand planted individually in large temperature controlled greenhouses with no need for pesticides. It was because organic plant matter had more nutrients for your skin than plain water.

The Advantage of Hydroponics Over Certified Organic

Why Hydroponic
Aloe is Better than
Certified Organic Aloe

Certified organic has no chemicals but it wastes lots of water, bugs eat the plants, less harvests, smaller plants with less nutrients.

Why Hydroponically Grown Aloe Makes Such Effective Skin Care

  • 1. Soil looses its nutrient value over time and can contain plant-damaging disease. Hydroponic plants are grown in water not soil. The hydroponic method uses balanced plant food that dissolved directly into oxygenated water so the plant can receive perfect nutrition at all times.
  • 2. We re-filter the same water, its not wasted in the earth and the roots are always in water absorbing plant food.
  • 3. We get more harvests in a greenhouse; the plants are larger and healthier too.
  • 4. We never use herbicides or pesticides and there is no damaging water run off.
  • 5. Soil is not able to produce the nutrient levels needed per sq. foot, as the root system is able to take up in hydroponics.
  • 6. Gunilla products are based on a minimum of 60% of our exclusive hydroponically greenhouse grown, hand picked and hand planted, nutrient fed 100% organic aloe. You can see the plant health in the image. No bug bites and plants are large and healthy.

Products Show Amazing Results

Why Hydroponics is Better for Skin Care

In soil, bacteria have to break down the dirt into the basic elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as well as trace elements. The hydroponic method uses balanced plant food (the nutrient solution) dissolved directly into oxygenated water so the plant can receive perfect nutrition at all times. Soil is not able to produce as much nutrient per area as the root system is able to take up in hydroponics. Hydroponics take the desired amount of food directly to the root rather than making plant's roots look for it. Soil loses its nutritional value and is difficult to measure in terms of pH and fertility. The pH and nutritional value of the water is easily measured and maintained so plants always have enough food.

In a hydroponic system, moisture is present all the time. Soil plays host to many nasty little creatures, while hydroponic growing mediums are inert and sterile, making a very hygienic environment for the plant. Soil requires a lot more watering and has a higher occurrence of pests. Therefore, plants grow slower and need more space and constant maintenance. Hydroponics increases plant growth and yield per area, decreases pests and diseases and the need to water plants.
