FAQ About LEROSETT®

How to Extract a Pimple the Right Way with LEROSETT®

Some people have said that you should never pop a pimple, WRONG.
With LEROSETT® you can squeeze a pimple without too much concern of getting a scar. An infected pimple is your bodies way of getting rid of infection or puss. There is nothing wrong with you speeding up the process by squeezing out the infection. The reason some say not to pop a pimple is because most people are to aggressive and don't know how to extract properly. They end up damaging their skin, usually causing a scar, so statistically its better to tell everyone not to touch their pimples and let their doctors do it.

However, if you have LEROSETT® and you take your time and wait for the pimple to come to a head, then you pop it, but not before. This is where LEROSETT® comes in, LEROSETT® will pull that infection to the surface speeding up the healing process by over half. After the initial extraction us a cotton ball to absorb any extra fluids that may come out. Then, after extraction you apply LEROSETT® several times and overnight, as the clay dries it will absorb the remaining infection and tighten the opening eliminating most of the potential for scaring. Spot treatments may need to be repeated 5-10 times over the next 24-48 hours before all the fluid is absorbed and the opening closes.

A pimple is ready for extraction when it comes to a head, at this point it must be extracted carefully to avoid scarring or infection. Please follow these steps below to extract the pimple safely, if you are having difficulty seek a licensed skin care professional to assist you.

Here is what you've been waiting for: Permission to engage in extraction as it is called in the doctor's office. Picking is a double-edged sword. If you pick a new, developing lesion, you may drive it deeper and cause greater inflammation and potentially deeper scarring. On the other hand, if a lesion is a mature pustule, with a head as mentioned above proper extraction will speed healing, stop tissue digestion and reduce scarring. It's all a matter of doing it right.

    Instructions for Extraction
(Left image is READY for extraction, right image is NOT ready for extraction)
  • Use a sterilized lancet or needle, you can find lancets at any drugstore. Or use alcohol to sterilize a thin needle.
  • Gently prick the surface of the pimple.
  • Use two clean tissues and wrap them around each index finger.
  • Gently push on the sides of the pimple, it is best to roll the skin between the fingers to prevent irritation. If the pimple is ready, you will not need to push hard to extract it. Stop pushing if blood or clear fluid start seeping from the pimple.
  • If nothing comes out after medium pressure, stop, the pimple is not ready. Do not continue to push if the pimple is not ready to pop it will lead to scarring.
  • After extraction absorb fluids with a cotton ball, wait a few minutes. Then apply LEROSETT® Clay Treatment to the extracted pimple 2-6 times a day and overnight for the next 24-48 hours. This will absorb the remaining fluid, speed the healing "by as much as a week" and close the opening left after extraction; this helps to prevents a scab from forming and minimizes scarring.
How to extract blackheads and whiteheads (milia)
  • You can extract blackheads yourself if there is no sign of infection on or surrounding the blemish. If attempting to extract the blackhead yourself, always be sure to use sterile materials. It is also advised to be certain your environment is extremely clean. As suggested by skin experts, the first step would be to steam your skin for several minutes. The best way to do this is to place your face over a bowl of very hot water. It is also recommended to hold a towel over your head to keep in the steam. This will loosen the pores and make the extraction process less painful. Be careful not to scald yourself.
  • It is preferable to use a flat blackhead remover, or a comedone extractor to remove blackheads. You can find this product at any beauty store. It is highly recommended not to attempt to extract aggravated, inflamed or infected acne lesions since this will worsen the acne and can cause scarring. To avoid infection always remember to sterilize your extractor every time you use it. Do this by placing it in boiling water for 10 minutes and then apply rubbing alcohol onto it.
  • You have to be careful when you extract a whitehead (milia), but that doesn't mean you should never do it.

Wash the affected area with a mild cleanser and water. If washing your face, use a mild face wash. Pat dry with a clean towel.
  • Use a lancet to poke a tiny hole into one milia at a time. To do this, hold the lancet between your thumb and forefinger and poke the center of the milia gently. One small hole is all you need. Use a mirror if the milia is on your face or hard to see.
  • Place an extractor tool over the milia. You can find this tool at most pharmacies or cosmetic stores. It's looks liked a 6- to 10-inch-long rod with an open circle at on one end. Place the open circle around the milia and press down firmly.
  • Slowly push the extractor tool over the milia, still pressing down firmly against the skin. Repeat this several times, if necessary, to get out all the white keratin built up in the skin. Do this for each milia.
  • Wash the face once again and gently pat dry.

If you are unsure of your ability to extract blackheads/whiteheads, it is recommended to visit a professional. Aestheticians and dermatologists can offer deep cleansing facial treatments designed to keep skin clear of black or white heads. The cost of these treatments may be a little high for your budget, but most are happy with the results and feel it is worth it in the long run.

It is critical to leave painful lesions and deep cysts alone. Don't try to extract them. If you dot these difficult deep pimples, nodules and cysts with LEROSETT® several times a day the cysts will either go away or the infection will be drawn to the surface for easier extraction. Either way the cyst will go away faster with LEROSETT® than without. If you also visit your doctor they can give you an anti-inflammatory injection like cortisone that will bring down the swelling.
If you can catch the problems early before you start to see a bump or see redness apply LEROSETT® quickly and often and the clay will often prevent the cyst or nodule from getting any bigger.

If you are not sure about your skin condition or know what to do then you should seek advice from a doctor or skin care specialist. It is a good idea to see a doctor at least once to confirm that you do have acne a chronic skin disease that is treatable but not curable or you have problem skin and not one of the many skin conditions that look similar to acne.
